A couple of images from an ad campaign I did for a hospital in St. Louis this past winter. The shoot ran over three days, and was all on location in the hospital which involved a lot of fast paced setup and tear down, and working around a lot of busy doctors schedules.

The large focus of the shoot was several people who had beat cancer through the hard work of a pretty tight amazing team of people at the hospital. I got to hear a lot of great stories during that week. The portraits were composited together into the various teams of people involved, and then used in several billboard and print ads in the St. Louis area. The first shot is actually an out take from one of the portrait sessions, and the second is one of the patients featured. Thanks to everyone involved!

I Recently shot this image for Elevate Church’s ‘Lets Make A Deal’ series beginning this coming Easter. Ive been involved at the Church for a couple of years now, and always love being a part of their creative projects. The staff is over the top, and always a blast to work with. The kid (Titus) is actually lead Pastor Brian’s son, and kept us laughing the whole time… he is a witty little man! This final piece is being used in a variety of promotional material, including a couple of billboards, so keep your eyes out if you live in central Illinois. Be sure to check out the deal maker web site for some hilarious video out takes of Titus…. it will definitely have you laughing. See you this Easter!

I love photographing old people. Not totally sure why, but I think they often have a very different physiological approach to having their photograph be made, especially compared to younger generations. (Plus they still get excited about being able to see the image on the back of the camera =).

I have met my roommates grandpa a few times, and he is a pretty interesting man… Kind of reminds me of Mr. Rogers for some reason. I asked him if he would mind posing for a portrait the other night, and he he immediately responded with ‘Sure’, and smiled sitting on the couch, assuming I was going to take it with my iPhone or something. I told him I meant a more formal picture, and so we went down to my studio space, and shot a few photos. We shot for about 30 minutes and I got several I was happy with. These are two of my favorites. Im a little jealous of his flannel….

A couple of weeks ago I was asked by a friend if I would be willing to take a couple of portraits for a friend of his who was running for president of student body our local college. I had just finished a huge edit that left me eyesore from staring at photoshop for countless hours, and had been wanting to mess with some new grids I had picked up, so it sounded like a perfect opportunity to break away from the computer for a bit and have fun with the camera. Trevor was a really great guy to work with.. He came in with a few ideas and then just let me do my thing.

I really enjoy these last minute spontaneous shoots… there a good way to step back from all of the normal production stuff and just put stuff together at your own pace while you shoot. There are a few more on my Flickr page if you want to check them out. Happy Monday!

David Beich for Style 1900 Magazine.

I actually shot this image back in November, but have had to wait on publication dates to actually post it. David has one of the best fine art tile collections in the world (around 30,000 pieces), including pieces from Al Capone’s home. For the article I shot a mixture of portraits, and some still life images of his collection. This particular photo happened to by my favorite from the day. Natural light, Canon 5DII at 35mm.

Breakfast #366 - Last day of the breakfast project! Kinda crazy how fast time has gone. Shared breakfast with my friends Ben, Lance, and Jason this morning. Blueberry/banana pancakes, eggs, and coffee. Its been really fun to complete this project, and see myself grow as a photographer. Thanks to everyone who shared this project, sent some great emails, or shared breakfast with me. Ive posted the whole album both on flickr, and google plus if you want to check them out there.
